Last Wednesday, 21 January 2026, Firda, the Amelander Installers and the municipality of Ameland gathered on Ameland for an inspiring follow-up meeting on the NESSIE project. This is a collaboration in which education, practice and local government join forces to accelerate the energy transition and strengthen future-proof craftsmanship.**
During the meeting, work was done on the joint vision and approach for a dynamic, practice-oriented learning and innovation environment. An environment in which energy transition projects, vocational and higher education, installers, governments and international partners come together to learn, experiment and innovate.
About Nessie
NESSIE focuses on proactively increasing personnel capacity in the energy transition and accelerating vocational education and training for installers. This is achieved, among other things, by recruiting newly trained technicians and offering short follow-up courses, internships and E-campuses. Proven approaches and best practices at local, regional and international level are used to this end.
Follow-up
The broad outlines for the follow-up have now been established. The coming period will be devoted to further concretising and putting into practice the plans, so that the learning and innovation environment on Ameland can be realised.
Interreg North Sea Region
The NESSIE project is made possible by funding from Interreg North Sea Region, call 3C (FA). Through this collaboration, Ameland is further advancing the realisation of a smart energy system for the island.
