Cynthia and Teake live with their family of four young children in a house from the 1960s. “We have already done a lot to the house, but there is still plenty to do,” says Cynthia. “The plan, especially now with the high energy rates, is to further invest in making our homes more sustainable.”
Because the costs outweigh the benefits, Cynthia and Teake started looking for financing options. “We just heard that there are quite a few possibilities.” They have already insulated the roof from the inside. Teake: “We wanted to reorganize the top floor. I did that myself. First roof insulation on one side, then on the other side and now the landing. I also installed a false wall upstairs and replaced the old window frames with plastic window frames with double glazing. The wind blew right through between the wall and the frame. It is much more pleasant now.”
You think there is more possible in terms of financing, but you have to make an effort
The cavity walls below are insulated. Teake: “We received such a brochure through the letterbox. That was not too crazy an investment and as a result we now save almost 1,000 cubic meters of gas per year. We still have wishes in terms of comfort; To make it really comfortable downstairs, floor insulation and plastic window frames are needed. Hopefully we can make use of the ISDE subsidy. That depends a bit on the quotes and the timing.”
Customized financial solution
Cynthia: “We invest in the major work first. It is great that we now have the financial space to continue. The mortgage advisor thinks along with us. He also sees that the investments ultimately lead to lower costs. You think there is more possible in terms of financing, but you have to make an effort.”
