Installers, maintenance engineers, electricians and other technicians play an important role in the success of the energy transition. However, there is a glaring shortage of well-trained staff in these fields. The European Interreg project NESSIE is working to rapidly build capacity and skills with immediate action in the North Sea region. Ameland is one of the partners in the project, which kicked off in Leeuwarden on 16 and 17 January 2024.
Role Ameland
Municipality of Ameland plays a connecting link between local installers and Firda and Learning Hub Friesland in this project.
The aim is:
- to provide both students and local installers with knowledge and experience of installing home batteries and energy management systems on Ameland;
- to develop closer cooperation between installers and Firda and Learning Hub Friesland.
- to support the development of an E-campus that will make knowledge on the installation of home batteries and energy management systems accessible outside the region.
About NESSIE
NESSIE aims to proactively increase workforce capacity and accelerate vocational education and training for installers in the energy transition. This includes recruiting newly trained technicians and implementing short follow-up courses, internships and E-campuses based on best practices at local, regional and international levels. The project receives funding from Interreg North Sea region call 3C (FA).
